Smithco: Make Spraying More Efficient, Convenient and Accurate

At Station 1, Steven Johnson and I presented the Campset and Sharpshooter. The Campset and Sharpshooter in a nutshell is an automatic tip changer. It allows us to apply product anywhere from four tenths of a gallon to four gallons per thousand and also allows us ground speeds of two to ten miles per hour without changing tips. It takes care of the inefficiencies that we have with standard tips, and it also increases the productivity of upwards from thirty to forty percent in your spraying cap. It certainly gives us an opportunity to have all the customers in what I like to say is, “Kick the tires.” There is nothing better than having the opportunity for the customer to be able to actually see what we are doing. We can use product literature, we can use videos, all of those but until they actually see the product in its integrity, it’s helpful for them to do that. The take home message is the ability to have more efficiency with your spraying methods, to cut your time of spraying and your accuracy and being able to use that ground speed pressure and application all independent of one another. I think it’s a great opportunity for a superintendent not only sees the products but also see the new technologies being introduced to the turf Industry but also be able to network with their peers on a day to day basis and interchange information with them.
